Took this of my sister. I love how many creases there are in her face when she forces them. When she scrunches up her face, the lines are basically a representation of the troubles she has faced in her life. The simplicity, yet tension of this photo. She looks angry, stressed… like she’s about to cry or thinking real hard. But she wasn’t. It was happiness filled with tiredness. I love photos because they show an exact moment in time- but I dislike how it is only a snapshot of what is actually happening. It’s like an image of a lady, a man with a handbag and a man with a gun. The gun is aimed at the lady. Who knows what could have happened- only the ones who were there. Think deeper than the picture and realise not everything is what it seems. This is turning into a ramble, but I’ll leave you with a quote, “Taking a photograph isolates a place and an instant from the rest of space and time, so an image is radically solitary.” -Jeff Wall, April 2013.
